Anyway, when you're ready, just nominate an album and Trollheart will work it into the Club rotation, which you can see in the OP.

This album club has thus far been devoid of rap albums. If no one fixes that by the time my next album is queued up, I suppose I'll have to rectify it meself.
And, welcome Carpe. I can't wait to shlt on your nominated album. |

Well the whole point is to try to nominate albums, or ones we think are good anyway. Still, I suppose if you really insist I can dig out a Ronan Keating monstrosity - just make sure your medical insurance is all paid up: you'll need it.

I'd be interested in recommendations for dark gospel! Can't say I have much to offer though. If anything, I may have asked for some from you or the member base here - sounds like me lol.
That being said, it inspires my album pick a bit.... Sixteen Horsepower - Sackcloth 'n Ashes

Note: I never noticed that Sharon Jones album was so recent. I assumed it was from the 1960s. Had I done, I think I would have shaved off two or three points from the rating. I won't do that now, as it would be unfair, but just to sort of explain why I gave it 10/10. Seeing that it is a 21st century album, I am less impressed, as it does now seem very derivative and stale, but hell, my rating stands, because why not. I'll check the year in future.

It's more a case of is it just playing on the tropes and sounds of music a few decades before it, or is it more contemporary? I think others have pointed out that it sounds dated, with no real addition to or improvement on the sound of the time when that music was most popular. I mean, if someone were to bring out an album very like the Beatles or the Beach Boys now, would you not think that detracted from its originality?
Anyway, shut up or I will change the rating.
