I never got into Kind of Blue even more recently but if this was a vote for In a Silent Way like others have said or even Live-evil or Get Up With It would be ones I would consider more personally

Sure I have this on a pretty blue vinyl, and it's a great album, but I vote no.

Kind of Blue - 3

2 more and it gets in, though I'm mildly surprised, since I was told what an essential "jazz gateway" album it was, that so many of you seem not to consider it worthy. Oh well. Someone think up another one to be considered once this either gets in or doesn't. I'll give it till the weekend (Saturday morning, my time) to make the votes up and if it hasn't done so by then we'll move on (though votes can be cast for it after that too if anyone wants to).

Kind of Blue is quoted too much. I mostly listen to his live sets with those crack quartets/quintets he formed in the 50s.

It's not very challenging. It's entry level jazz at it's most perfect form. Probably explains why snobby music banter nerds prefer other albums.

I can't say I give a toss about Kind of Blue. I've always thought it was ok but rather boring overall.

Why don't you put up In a Silent Way? That seemed to get more yes votes than Kind of Blue.

(Still prefer Sketches of Spain though)

Another idea. Instead of nominating one specific album, maybe nominate an artist and four of five or their best albums. First album to get five votes gets the MB classic status. Thus Kind of Blue doesn't get in but maybe In a Silent Way does.

Just a thought
