I don't like the music, but after watching this documentary, I had more sympathy for the guy. He was like a lost innocent with good intentions, getting screwed over by an industry that was re-inventing itself exactly because of his success. He could've made some better choices, but there was no precedent, no bandmates to help him...

I suppose in fairness it's not Elvis I have a major problem with, though I do not like his music. Somewhat like Manchester United, it's not so much the team as the fans. The godlike legend that has been woven around him annoys me, and the fact that people still bloody impersonate him today is very irritating. I mean, other than actual tribute bands, does anyone else get this sort of adulation? hold Frank Sinatra lookalike competitions, or Jim Morrison conventions? Ugh.
