The Ramones were so "punk" (or broke) that they brought their instruments to their earliest CBGB gigs in shopping bags. Note Johnny with his bagged Mosrite on the subway here. Poor Dee Dee seems to have no bag at all in this pic.

^ Yes, all that coke plus Stevie's Klonopin "prescriptions" - what goes up must come down.

Regardless, Fleetwood + McVie one of the greatest rhythm sections of all time.

Can't argue with that. I've been hearing quite a bit of the older stuff on Deep Tracks (Sirius) lately, and a lot of it makes me question why I never dove into the deep end of that band. I dabbled a bit into the Welch period but thats about it.

I waved to them and said "great show last night!" and Dave & Krist waved back while Kurt turned and went back into the hotel. I figured maybe he didn't want to be bothered so I just kept walking. There were a lot of great bands and moments at the festival that weekend...

I think one of the great undersung guitarists - during the Welch period and the earlier Peter Green era - was Danny Kirwan. Very fluid and lyrical player with a stunning vibrato.

I'll have to give Then Play On through Bare Tree's a listen then.

I agree - and cool story about encountering Nirvana, Psy-Fi! Was Kurt still in the wheelchair and wearing the hospital gown, by chance?

Marie, you may appreciate (and probably already know) that the errant tampon was thrown back at the stage and landed on one of Nick Cave's band's speaker cabinets, remaining there during Cave's entire set.
