An allegedly drunk Chrissie Hynde physically attacked Carly Simon at a Joni Mitchell club performance at The Fez in NYC in 1995. The story was subsequently minimized in the press, but a friend of mine (who was Natalie Merchant's guitarist at the time) who attended the show said it was true and actually a bit worse than reported - with Chrissie grabbing Carly around the neck, pummeling her to the floor and shouting, "That's a REAL artist up there!" (referring to Joni)

Someone on here being friends with Jennifer Turner is far more interesting than any number of drunken brawls. What other gossip does she have? Has she ever met Bowie or Robert Smith or Tom Waits or Bjork?
|
Not as far as I know. The only reason I could let the Chrissie/Carly cat-fight out of the bag is because Jennifer was actually interviewed about it on the release of Furslide's Adventure, so it's a matter of public record lol. Jennifer's a really sweet person, a killer guitarist and a massive Joni Mitchell fan!

Thats... I dont know... wow! I love her playing, phrasing, all of it. She's always been the kind of player that I stop and listen to no matter whats happening around me.
I'm absolutely sure she's one of the sweetest people on the planet too. lol Thanks for the clarification ribbons. Good to see you! |

Moriaki Wakabayashi of Les Rallizes Denudes hijacked Japan Airlines Flight 351 with samurai swords and explosives along with other Japanese Red Army members. Some other members of the band were invited but declined.

Oasis music memorabilia previously owned by Liam and Noel Gallagher is set to go under the hammer next month
Liam Gallagher's "battered" tambourine and football shirts worn by Oasis members are set to be auctioned. The 'Some Might Say' group's former frontman played by the instrument while recording their seminal 1995 album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory', and it's expected to fetch between £300-£500 at Hansons Auctioneers' Music Memorabilia Auction on November 2. Producer-and-engineer Nick Brine saved the percussion instrument from being discarded after the 49-year-old rock legend finished using it during the album sessions. Nick, who engineered the iconic LP – which includes Oasis classics such as 'Don't Look Back in Anger', and 'Roll with It', 'Wonderwall', and 'Champagne Supernova' – said: "The tambourine was used during the recording of 'What's The Story Morning Glory'. "It was pretty battered by the end of the session and was going to be thrown away. But I claimed it." The tambourine is steeped in history, as it has since been used by the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The Verve, and Kasabian. The studio wizard added: "It's been used on many recordings since by bands such as Teenage Fanclub, The Darkness, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Seasick Steve, Steve Harley, Supergrass and The Verve." The auction will also see a magenta limited-edition Adidas soccer shirt, which ex-guitarist and Liam's estranged sibling, Noel, 54, wore for a charity football match back in 1996, go under the hammer. It features the Oasis logo and the Bolt Makers Arms FC badge and is emblazoned with 'N. Gallagher' above the number 7. The shirt is estimated to go for between £1,000 to £1,500. What's more, there is also a top worn by guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, with a guide price of £800 to £1,000 Hansons' music memorabilia expert, Josh McCarthy, commented: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to bring these rock treasures to auction. They are iconic objects from iconic musicians who remind us that Britain is a melting pot of immense talent. "Thanks to Nick, the provenance is second to none and I am expecting worldwide interest in these lots. They deserve to do well. It's an opportunity to own a slice of British rock history." long one....:wavey: |

That was real interesting BrickH.
David Bowie's eyes weren't actually two different colours. After getting into a fight as a kid, Bowie developed anisocoria, which caused his left pupil to become permanently dilated. So while both of his eyes were blue in colour, the left one always appeared darker because of the blackness of the dilated pupil. |
fact: Brian May doesn't play with a pick, he uses a sixpence, a British coin, and uses the serrated edge to create different sounds from plucking the strings

The Ramones were so "punk" (or broke) that they brought their instruments to their earliest CBGB gigs in shopping bags. Note Johnny with his bagged Mosrite on the subway here. Poor Dee Dee seems to have no bag at all in this pic.

^ Yes, all that coke plus Stevie's Klonopin "prescriptions" - what goes up must come down.
Regardless, Fleetwood + McVie one of the greatest rhythm sections of all time. |
Can't argue with that. I've been hearing quite a bit of the older stuff on Deep Tracks (Sirius) lately, and a lot of it makes me question why I never dove into the deep end of that band. I dabbled a bit into the Welch period but thats about it.

Journey a lot at once...
Journey Artistfacts for more detailed info... As a teenager, Schon turned down an opportunity to join Eric Clapton's band Derek and the Dominos. He did later join Santana. Smith's drumming has broadened over the years partially due to his involvement in the jazz group Vital Information. Schon is the founder of Schon Guitars, which markets and sells instruments he designed himself. They are manufactured by Jackson. Dunbar played with Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Lou Reed and David Bowie before Journey. He would later join Jefferson Starship. Perry's band Alien Project was almost signed to CBS Records in 1978, but then their bass player was killed in a car crash. For Perry, this led to landing the vocalist spot in Journey. Schon met Rolie while they were both members of Santana. Between their times in the two bands, Schon played with others in the San Francisco area, while Rolie opened a restaurant with his father in Seattle. When the group formed, they held a contest on the San Francisco radio station KSAN-FM to come up with the name of the band, the winner getting tickets for life to their shows. The names terrible - stuff like Rumpled Foreskin and The Mound Pounders. John Villanueva, who worked in the band's management, came up with the name Journey, and they created a fake winner for the contest, an imaginary listener named Toby Pratt. According to Jonathan Cain, Steve Perry brought a Bible into the studio when they recorded their last album with Perry, Trial By Fire (1996). Cain later found religion and married the renown megachurch preacher Paula White in 2015. "This really opened my eyes," Cain said of Perry's affirmation of faith. "I was still in the wilderness, but God was planting seeds in me." |
I remember Goofle saying many moons ago that dalek and Moodie Black were both members in the early days of musicbanter.

I just learned that the same guy that sang "Long cool woman" by the Hollies (Allan Clarke) also sang "Breakdown" by Alan Parsons. Seems kind of obvious now.

Accidentally meeting the tampon-tosser a few days later, was also an unexpected surprise. I was in Bayswater, washing some clothes at a launderette, and went into a nearby corner shop to get a newspaper to read while my clothes were being cleaned. I paid for my paper, turned to leave, and came face to face with Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner. They asked the clerk if he had the latest issue of "Lime Lizard" for sale and he told them "no." I told them that there was a newsagent across the street and around the corner which had just about any newspaper or magazine available and if anyone would have it he would. I walked out of the shop with them and showed them where the newsagent was located and they thanked me and headed over there while I went back to retrieve my laundry. A couple of hours later, I went over to that same newsagent to satisfy my curiosity about "Lime Lizard" (which I assumed was a music magazine), found the latest issue on the shelf and saw Donita Sparks, Suzi Gardner, Jennifer Finch, and Demetra Plakas on the cover. I ended up buying the copy and still have it in my music collection. |
Real Memories and all Psy-Fi/ BH...we have a launderette next to Super U in Sauze Vaussais and gets used lot...never seen anybody famous this way..quite a few frogs though.

The albums that sell millions of copies are few and far between. According to the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), 80% of albums sell less than 100 copies, while 94% of albums have less than 1,000 copies sold.

Prince was actually an excellent basketball player.
According to a basketball coach, Prince was clever, quick on his feet and played like a natural leader while on the court. The only thing that let him down was his height. https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/H4c475081...asual-Male.jpg |
