Best Opening Track, Best Closing Track

What do you think are the best beginnings and ends in music?

Best opening track from the greatest album of all time. Anyone who craps on '80s music clearly has no idea what they're talking about.

Like I stated in my best 1999 albums thread, this is my favorite closing track of all time.

Both songs are lush, gorgeous wonders that transcend music and heal my soul. Coincidence? I think not!

the best opening track has to be the Intro/Apocalypse Please combo from Muse's 2003 album Absolution.

the best closing track has to be Soldier Side from the 2nd of System of a Down's 2005 companion-album duo, Mezmerize/Hypnotize.

Metal

I've always considered this an epic opener for an album:

Strictly Personal has a great opening track, because it starts a capella and holds off the full force of the band. It lets you know that you're in for an unusual ride and serves as a short prelim to the in-your-face impact of the next track, so job well done, "Ah Feel Like Ahcid":-

Ideally, a good opening track will also have, in itself, a good intro, so this thread may be of interest too.

With that criterium in mind, "Roundabout" makes a good album-opening track too:-

First one I thought of too

Difficult to beat such a definitive closer as this. While that piano chord is ringing in your ears, you know this must be the end of the album, if not the end of Time and the Universe itself!

When I read the title I thought you were asking for the best opening and best closing tracks both appearing on the same album. Which would be interesting to see what album could claim both. Shabooh Shoobah is one of those albums that have a great opener and closer. Don't Change is epic, one of my ATF songs.
