the best opening track has to be the Intro/Apocalypse Please combo from Muse's 2003 album Absolution.
the best closing track has to be Soldier Side from the 2nd of System of a Down's 2005 companion-album duo, Mezmerize/Hypnotize. |

Strictly Personal has a great opening track, because it starts a capella and holds off the full force of the band. It lets you know that you're in for an unusual ride and serves as a short prelim to the in-your-face impact of the next track, so job well done, "Ah Feel Like Ahcid":-
Ideally, a good opening track will also have, in itself, a good intro, so this thread may be of interest too. https://www.musicbanter.com/general-...85-intros.html With that criterium in mind, "Roundabout" makes a good album-opening track too:- Quote:
,Rubber Soul! ![]() Difficult to beat such a definitive closer as this. While that piano chord is ringing in your ears, you know this must be the end of the album, if not the end of Time and the Universe itself!
