Best Album: 1999
Hey folks, newbie here. I want to make a series of posts where I select a random year, and we discuss our favorite albums from that year. Today, it's 1999, which actually had a lot of bangers and was a fantastic year for music.
My pick is Clarity by Jimmy Eat World. Such a beautiful, gorgeous album, and quite possibly the most ambitious emo album ever, at least as far as emo pop is concerned. Truly worthy of being called an epic, and "Goodbye Sky Harbor" is probably the greatest closing track ever. 1999 was a great year for emo. What are your favorite albums from the end of the last millennium? Last edited by YoshiMadness; 08-01-2021 at 10:01 AM. |

Alright so what even came out in 1999... HOLY **** **** YES THE GATHERING!!! I only really care about two Testament albums: The New Order from 1988, and The Gathering from 1999. It's the best thrash album since the genre imploded in the 90s, all the songs are super crushing and well written, "DNR (Do Not Resuscitate)" is like best song ever, and for some awesome reason it even has Dave Lombardo from Slayer on drums. 10/10

Predictably my pick is Sleater-Kinney's the Hot Rock, by a mile

I'm sure I'll come up with a better answer, but off the dome I'll go with Fantomas's debut

This was my **** back in 1999, I remember this was one of the first albums I ever actually had on CD at the time and I still love it to this day. When I think of 1999, this is the album I think of first. Even though I think MMLP is better, Eminem was never more savage than he was on this album and there's just this certain charm to the way that it's produced that brings me back every time I listen to it. |

The closest thing to a nu metal album that can go toe to toe with The Gathering is Astrocreep 2000. Korn are a wet fart.
