Obviously, Christina Aguilera had the best 1999 album.

Still not as good as her subsequent appearance on MTV Cribs

My pick is Clarity by Jimmy Eat World. Such a beautiful, gorgeous album, and quite possibly the most ambitious emo album ever, at least as far as emo pop is concerned. Truly worthy of being called an epic, and "Goodbye Sky Harbor" is probably the greatest closing track ever. 1999 was a great year for emo.

P.S. Sadly, that was Shane's only album, but I used to play it like crazy. For the last 20+ years, the guy has been a full-time song writer.
