Al Bowlly-“Midnight with the stars and you”

I don’t know why but i always feel so nostalgic when listening to oldies even though i’ve never been born at this time or have experienced anything from the old days before i were born.

But also this song makes me so warm, comfy and cozy inside????
I can almost feel the lovely and the joyfully moment when listening to this song, i imagine myself wear suit and tie, watching all the beautifully pure dressed people dancing together at the ballroom.

It’s not because i’m hating on nowadays/mainstream music, cause there’s also many good and nice songs out there that i love and enjoy. But i feel like songs from that era were more pure, female friendly, comfortable, romantic and comfy(even though i’m normally not into romantic music). I wish there were more nowadays songs that were like this or like Barry white’s songs which also had that romantic and sexy but also with pure charm, kindness, love, happiness and respect. And it’s not only because i’m in deep love with his voice. This also goes to Al Bowlly even though i only knew him because of his song “Heartache” AKA “Burning memory”

And speaking of Barry white i would also like to mention that Barry White’s “You’re the first, the last, my everything” this song definitely touches my soul.

The slow, surging uplift that starts when the song comes back in at 1:20 is really good, TH.

Echoing churchy voices are very effective at reaching the soul, I think:-

Though in a different way, "Music For Airports" does it for me too:-

@Lily: Isn't it odd that we have chosen such different music to answer your question about "touching the soul" ?

What you wrote made me think of a Fred Astair tribute album called "Cheek To Cheek" by Peter Skellern that you might enjoy if you don't know it. I think the songs have been re-packaged into another album, but this particular song does a great job of evoking the era that you are describing:-

("The way you hold your knife" I just love it)
