How you gonna hate 80s synthwave?

You can tell someone only listens to top 40 music when they say stupid shit like "innovation is dead" or there's "no creativity in music anymore." There's always new things you can do, always weird ideas to try out, and lesser known and underground artists are constantly pushing boundaries.

Get over yourself. You're not special just because you're old.

What do you mean the "aftermath of punk?" You say that like Punk didn't exist after '77. What about 80s' Hardcore Punk, that never existed?

The way you say "gimmick and misfires sure" makes you sound like an infomercial. Are you talking music or are you Vince Shlomi on the QVC channel???

the 1980s is when we peaked in general as a nation. Just like any other addict, when we first discovered cocaine in the early 80s it seemed like a gateway to infinite potential. But by the time we started cooking it into crack by the late 80s that spelled the beginning of the end....

Say what you want of me ...
At least I don't sound like Martha Stewart talking about Punk/Post-Punk.

  • Aerosmith is christ awful. I like maybe 3 songs.
  • Boston, J. Giles, and the Cars are great but I think of them as 70's bands, and what did come out in the 80s, iirc sucked. Like "Drive" and "Amanda."
  • The Lemonheads are fine. The version of Shame About Ray from Letterman is way better than the album version.
  • MtB and the Hardcore bands, can't say I've heard them.
  • Did Til Tuesday have Aimee Mann? Love her.

Also I guess I should add, their being from Boston doesn't make me like the music any more.

I like the idea of trying to chronicle the Boston scene in the 1980s and never mentioning Pixies. A brave choice.

See that's a band I'd give you. Pixies are solid and a source of Bostonian pride. And Frank Black is the right amount of Piece of ****.
