You can tell someone only listens to top 40 music when they say stupid shit like "innovation is dead" or there's "no creativity in music anymore." There's always new things you can do, always weird ideas to try out, and lesser known and underground artists are constantly pushing boundaries.

Get over yourself. You're not special just because you're old.

What do you mean the "aftermath of punk?" You say that like Punk didn't exist after '77. What about 80s' Hardcore Punk, that never existed?

The way you say "gimmick and misfires sure" makes you sound like an infomercial. Are you talking music or are you Vince Shlomi on the QVC channel???

the 1980s is when we peaked in general as a nation. Just like any other addict, when we first discovered cocaine in the early 80s it seemed like a gateway to infinite potential. But by the time we started cooking it into crack by the late 80s that spelled the beginning of the end....

Yes, if you weren't of-age when the music came out there's no way to enjoy it. That's certainly a fact.

To everyone else, **** off, you're wrong.

Boomers are always saying dumb things and acting like entitled brats. Are you really surprised?

Why so hostile?

Anyways back to the 80s ... you come from Boston and you don't look back with nostalgia at the underground Boston scene in the 80s? Perhaps just like the music for no other reason than it comes from your hometown.

PS I mean you don't have to, just saying. I believe you entitled to you're own opinion. Please don't tell me to **** off!

Say what you want of me ...
At least I don't sound like Martha Stewart talking about Punk/Post-Punk.

From the 80s? Such as?
OK Boston had more than just underground scene. Let me roughly break some of it down:

Boston and Aerosmith were huge Arena Rock bands - like 'em or lump 'em.

J Geils Band, The Cars - They help define the 80s New Wave sound. Two of my atf bands.

Then Boston had an underground HC scene that rivaled DC's eg Negative FX, Gang Green, Jerry's Kids, SS Decontrol - like 'em or lump 'em.

Then they're other bands like (along the lines of college rock) Mission of Burma, (MTV bands) The Lemonhead, Till Tuesday

All those bands, all those styles, don't mean anything? ... don't amount to anything?

There is a lot I don't like from the 80s where I see your point. If anything I would expect coming from a discussion of 80s music would be you touting Boston bands, and coming to a conclusion that the 80s wasn't all that bad.
