Are Sly and The Family Stone one of those "you had to be there" acts to get it?
I've been a fan of the band since 1969, thanks to Stand! so I pretty much lived through their era. 1969 being their best year.
Now I've noticed over the years the younger generation of music listeners (GenX'ers and Millennial's) always just shrug their impact in the rock and roll era. I understand the fact that GenX'ers and Millennial's weren't alive then and by the time they were growing up the band were pretty much dead but people of my generation (I'm a baby boomer) or older who were kids/teens of the 60s and early 70s would get it because we lived it and were of the age to buy the records. So are they one of those acts you "had to be there" to get their impact of the 60s and early 70s? |
