New here and colab questions

Hello my name is Maria Romanova and I am very new to creating music in an actual listening form. I have for many years been able to compose in my head but can’t really play any instruments or sing. It actually got frustrating because my music was just in my head and that’s as far as it could go. However I now use Reason and Cool Edit Pro and now can actually do some production of my own music. I have a lot to learn but I love it!
So when I mentally compose music, I picture someone else singing it like Garbage or something and never myself. So my question is, how do I go about finding a singer to collaborate with? How does it all work to protect myself and the vocalist legally as far as rights to the music goes. Not that I think I am going to produce a smash hit or something, but I just want tp know how it all works?

So this thread has had almost 150 and no one has any input? Am I doing something wrong? Something I am missing maybe? Last I knew a form was about discussing a topic.
