The Beacons We Found Underwater by Screener https://healingsoundpropagandist.ban...und-underwater Ambient/New Age Very slow moving and peaceful. The tonal patterns of melody or whatever you call the movement of sound at this pace is beautiful and engaging.

300000 by Cats With Hats https://catswithhats.bandcamp.com/album/300000 MB resident musical genius Key released another strong winner here. An 18 minute experimental drone piece with plenty going on to keep the listener engaged. 5/5 highest recommendation

It’s definitely you that deserves the thanks.
You’re not even exactly in these genres but 99% of the music I call drone or ambient and especially dark ambient these days fit such an expected format. I like those formats tbh but what you do doesn’t fit easily in a category - I guess the difference is it feels personalized - like you’re not trying to work within a framework but you’re expressing something individualized instead of formatted. I suppose many people try to do that but it usually fails. In fact, it almost always fails not to lean in heavily to a genre but you succeed at it. Like it’s not just harsh or just drone or just ambient. To pull that off successfully is rare.

Take this. It’s really damn good but it sounds exactly like you expect it to sound There’s nothing at all wrong with that but it’s a tier below what you’re doing

that genuinely means a lot. you're right - i tend to just make music that i find interesting and if others find it interesting, that's a plus. honestly, my process is pretty simple. figure out what fits together and just mess with it in audacity until it fits the structure i want to go for. then the fun part of adding stuff to it begins and i can see how things sound together. it's not really all that strenuous or annoying. more so, it's a lot of fun to experiment with what sounds good together and what doesn't. i'm usually pretty satisfied with the result. but, i'd be lying if i said i didn't delete projects halfway through. sometimes that happens.

Future Nostalgia
I don't care what anyone says but the Future Nostalgia album by Dua Lipa is incredible. The only song that's kinda lame is "Boys Will Be Boys". It's not the lyrics I care about it but the production value. Like the work and creativity that it took to put together each individual track cannot be ignored

Klara Lewis "Ingrid" It starts out with a single cello piece, and a part is ripped out a minute in and repeated and mangled till it hits the red, and fizzles out. The low end frequencies are very Stars of The Lid-esque, and some obvious comparisons to William Basinski with the repeated loop. It's a lot shorter than a Basinski track, so doesn't over stay it's welcome. Really good EP for people that love drone, and minimalist classical music. |
