I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Or in the history of recorded music or within genres that you wouldn't usually explore. What are the odds that the your favourite artists of the past that have (for lack of a better phrase) stood the test of time are your favourite artists from their respective era? If the people who crossed their arms and declared modern music to be a farce have historically been dead wrong, why should that same curmudgeonism hold any water in 2019 2?

Getting you to think that is, as you say, just another marketing ploy.

I think that people shouldn't waste their time making posts on the internet unless they have something interesting to say, and that standards for art/artists/artistry is as much of a Nazi tactic as banning jazz.

No, Frown has gave me some thoughtful suggestions based on what I already like.

One of the few artists he's recommended to me was Show Me The Body and it was absolutely what I wanted to listen to. He knew it.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Bat is getting older and can’t keep up with new music so he’s doing the music sucks these days thing that old people start doing before they stop listening to music altogether. He’s also pissed because he let the best year ever pass him by while he wasted his time working, drinking, and ironically adding 20,000 to his post count on a music forum.

Cause as far as I can tell all this choice just makes for an uninteresting smorgasbord of generic **** that no one cares about unless they're obsessed with the cultural minutiae of what artist is hot or not.
^ "Interesting," which is at the core of this question, is a very subjective term and we all know the standard answer of "Everyone is entitled to like what they like." And if anyone finds modern Western music boring, what's the problem? These days it's easy enough to move to something different: into music of the past or music of the non-West.

When I see some modern artists, I often think of a line by John B.Sebastian: "For each new person there's a new first time." He was talking about love but it applies to music too: people like to see music that's live and current, and to someone, that music will be new, even if for jaded MBer Batlord it's "an uninteresting smorgasbord of generic **** that no one cares about." (Great phrase btw!)

I mean let's be honest you listen to as much music as you do because you're mentally ill.
