Sun Rings Composed by Terry Riley & Performed by The Kronos Quartet

Sounds from the Voyager crafts - curious electronics - mixed with instrumentation and vocals typically associated with minimalism.

Even though this is a top 100 release for me because of what it does accomplish I have to admit there’s an awkwardness and lack organic fluidity that I just have to accept. This could be top five material if there was less Glass and more Stockhausen in the sound. Still though, it has a beautiful way of addressing our tiny corner in the universe and for that it gets the 59 spot.

Just when you think all the good names are taken the best one was right under our noses the whole time. This isn’t exactly yacht rock. It’s more like RV rock. Smooth production neo-seventies deep track soft rock vibe. So good.
