From what you've told me, you based this on Yelp reviews and as someone who's worked as an online reputation consultant, I can tell you that most businesses with a marketing presence have inflated review scores because they drive happy clients to those review sites to drown out legit negative reviews. Inspectors and other vendors (appraisers, title agents, etc) can also get away with a lot in non-metropolitan areas where there's not as much competition.

See now if you had said this instead of the kneejerk "well these whiny suburban housewives got my back and this house inspection was expensive af so there simply can't be any issues with the house", you wouldn't come off as blindly having faith in the home inspection process.

Not that partner referrals aren't without their own potential for bad recommendations, but family/friend advice is well meaning but is almost always bad though. Just ask your lender if you don't believe me.

If anything I have faith that capitalism would push down the crappy home inspectors and pull up the better ones, the painful flaws of capitalism notwithstanding.
