You’re missing the point. It’s not about pursuing the same kind of life I did, it’s about falling out of the cognitive trap that I too am intimately familiar with. Observe the following cyclical flow chart:

Think about how life sucks -> Vent about it on MusicBanter -> Make no progress towards improving life because limited free time is wasted on MusicBanter -> Think about how life sucks

Complacency destroys people’s brains and leads to depression, and the internet has made it way too easy to do that

Then why do Ant and you keep advising about free PDFs and Facebook networking? I do agree that people should try to build a happy life for themselves, but the method that you guys offer is not the right or desired way for everyone. And I don't believe you are trying to help people here, because the whole discussion is clearly having the opposite effect and has been going on for ages like that. If you guys wanted to help people better their lives you wouldn't choose this way

People don't have to follow the same method, but the point is to show that opportunities are out there and they are completely free. There's no barrier to pursuing those types of things besides to stop making excuses and to start working on it.

Well admittedly the discussion keeps happening because I am easily goaded into talking about it, and both Batlord and Frownland are really ****ing good at trolling people, in case you haven't noticed

Recognizing the negative aspects of life is a good way to prepare yourself for them, you just don't seem to be able to grapple with the nuance if it doesn't already align with what you've been told. I say that there are a lot of people who still have buyer's remorse even after getting an inspection, which you retorted with "oh so every single home inspector on the planet is shady?!?" Though the way that you take credit for building the earth beneath you while saying that you barely did anything to get there is a pretty impressive feat.

Also I'm not even trolling dawg, don't gaslight me for pointing out how weak your overly defensive responses are.
