![]() Title: “Tell Me What You Want” Artist: Zebra Taken from: Zebra Genre: Hard Rock Year: 1983 Suggested by: Plankton Familiarity: Zebra-o, I mean zero Comments: Great punchy rocker in the mould of the likes of Asia or Whitesnake, lots of power, great pumping melodies, great singer… just great all over. Bring on those stripey horses! Rating: 10/10 Resultant interest in album: 100% Resultant interest in artist: 100% Title: “Whos Behind the Door” Artist: Zebra Taken from: Zebra Genre: Hard Rock Year: 1983 Suggested by: Plankton Familiarity: As above Comments: I read that Zebra started doing covers of, among others, Yes, and it shows in this track. Almost an acoustic opening, very laid-back, reminds me a little of “I’ve Seen All Good People” or something similar. Kicks up nicely then, but the vocal is much more restrained than in the other of their tracks I just listened to. Nice versatility in the vocal. In the video they kind of do The Verve and also recreate the end scene from The Seventh Seal. Sort of. Another great track. You know me so well, man! ![]() Rating: 10/10 Resultant interest in album: 100% Resultant interest in artist: 100%

Title: “Slap That Bass”
Artist: The Ink Spots Taken from: Swing High Swing Low Genre: Vocal Jazz/ Doo-wop Year: 194? Suggested by: Neapolitan Familiarity: Zero, thought I’ve heard of them Comments: Oh god, this is the kind of bland drivel I hate. That close-harmony singing reminds me more of radio ads for soap or something, and it’s so limp and weak. Slap that bass? More like tip it and run away? Sorry but I hated that. Artist: Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five Taken from: Let the Good Times Roll Genre: Jazz? Ragtime? **** knows. Year: 1938 - 1954? Suggested by: Neapolitan Familiarity: Zero Comments: As soon as I heard the horns I knew I would probably hate this. I was right. This old-time music just don’t sit right with me. Sorry but bored beyond belief here Nea. Strike two. Rating: 1/0 Resultant interest in album: 0% Resultant interest in artist: 0%

Genre: Jump Blues, (aka) Jump Another thing. OK true this music is old, the song came out in '49 but it's not "old-time music." "Old-Time" with its origin in North American Folk music and Appalachian Folk music is something entirely different from Jump. (I say Folk I'm not talking about the commercialize American Folk Revival music of the 50s and 60s.) I don't know if this is best example to give, but Flat & Scruggs played Old-Time music and considered themselves proponents of Old Time music. Quote:
OK I'm glad you like it, but you're killing me Smalls. You're killing with your Genre:. Quote:

I'm glad you like "Come On" and "Roadrunner" I was hoping the same with the others. The lyrics to "Slap That Bass" and "Beans and Cornbread" are fun. I thought you would pick up on that fun and like them as well. Maybe have a laugh and enjoyed them. However I was severely wrong on that account.

Title: “Shake Your Hips”
Artist: Slim Harpo Taken from: Scratch My Back Genre: Blues Year: 1966 Suggested by: Neapolitan Familiarity: Zero Comments: Like the harmonica, and the upright bass (?) is pretty cool too. Good fast blues tune, and to be fair I usually prefer my blues to be slow and bittersweet, but this ain’t bad at all. Rating: 7/10 Resultant interest in album: 20% Resultant interest in artist: 20%

Title: “Land of a Thousand Dances”
Artist: Wilson Pickett Taken from: The Exciting WIlson Picket Genre: Soul Year: 1966 Suggested by: Neapolitan Familiarity: Hey! I actually know this one! Comments: Some good soul vibes here, but I do know this song. Normally I’d say pass as I already have heard it, but since I didn’t know I knew it, as it were, I’ll review it. And it’s pretty damn fine. What can I say? Na-na-na-na-na etc. ![]() Rating: 9/10 Resultant interest in album: 30% Resultant interest in artist: 30%
