Question Do you do musical taste analysis?

I think of myself as a person with a keen ear for music, but I'm aware that maybe I'm biased and am living under an illusion about my musical "good taste". My knowledge of music is limited, as I can somewhat tell what kind of music is playing but can't define any genre within 1 sentence. All I know is, I have a list of 62 favorite songs and maybe I can ask some of you here to tell me what kind of music people I am by judging those musics.

I'm looking for some detailed analyses that cover many facets. What I'm imagining is something like these:
- You like cheery tunes more than sad ones, those with dance-y beats.
- You like girls more than boys, but not much.
- Your favorite instruments seem to be guitar, piano & violin in that order. Other than them, some surprising ones are...
- You are biased toward English songs, specifically US; and some Korean.
- You have no idol, but your musical staple mostly come from the 90s / 00s...
or
- Damn, this list is a hotchpotch. I can only say you have a chaotic taste.
- etc...

Armed with this new knowledge about myself, I can answer with more confidence when someone ask me "What do you like?", or I can discover more music that suits my preference perfectly.

So what do you think? If you love to be a musical analyst or happen to know someone here who does, just tell me & I'll write down this list of songs. Will try to post links for easy listening & access, but right now I can't yet with such low post count.

I don’t like music because it’s good. Music is good because I say it is.

I'll gladly put down your taste.

Just explore more music in the genres that you already like, no need to be overly clinical about it.

To be honest, I enjoyed music a lot more when I stopped caring whether or not my taste in music was "good".

Problem is, I don't really know what genres I like, or even what constitutes a specific "genre".

Well maybe I expressed it the wrong way & thus gave incorrect impression, but I want to know more about myself, rather than to know whether I'm good or not.

Who cares about genres? A lot of them come about after-the-fact. No one ever said "Hey, let's get together and form a Proto-Punk band." back in the 60s. No one heard of the Beatles and Stones and said "We got to step it up a notch and start a Freak Beat band!"

There are genre names that are total nonsense. a few are plain "retarded" like Boogie Rock and Synth Wave. Plus genres are a mix bag. Any given genre consists of really good bands and ****ty bands. And in the end - regardless of how it's categorized - it comes down to whether you like the music or not.

If you want to know more about yourself take a test on the four temperaments ... or take a personality test based on the Jung and Briggs Myers typology. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
