What a special hidden gem!
I can’t believe how little love for this album there is in internetland. I had never heard this and I’m really kind of confused why I’ve never dug deeper into this guy’s discography considering who he is Winner winner chicken dinner Nice one dude

If it could be broken down into its basic elements it sounds like George Harrison on sitar backed by a Stoner Rock rhythm section (i.e. bass & drums) with Frownland on shawm, soprano sax and other woodwind instruments.

The thin clear sound of the sitar is set off nicely by the mellow thick bass layer, and it's very dynamic. That's also a contrast that I like in this kind of music: the steady background drone versus the dynamic rhythm and fluttering high tones. At times it drifts away to the background of my attention, but there are regular moments when it grips me
