All the bands you’re mentioning our great but none of that subtracts anything from the Dead Boys. Like elph is saying they’re a definitive punk band. You really don’t have to compare everything to The Stooges.

As far as I can tell they're definitive because they're historical. They were a famous CBGB's band when Rocket from the Tombs and Pere Ubu were almost unknown so they got an unfair share of those bands' hype for songs they didn't necessarily even write. I mean they sound fine and kick some ass but not so much that they deserve anything more than historical footnote status.

I mean that's fine. Whatever. But when I listen to them I think I could be listening to the Stooges or the Clash or the Sex Pistols or some other band with more personality. I'm sorry but they don't hold up. Ya'll can wax nostalgic about whatever but Dead Boys are overrated.

I mean maybe if they weren't a relatively tepid contemporary of all the bands who actually blew up and are currently beloved while Dead Boys are reduced to this thread.
