With the people I hang out with it's either something to do with Maynard, some bull**** pop punk or something that has to do with either Run The Jewels or Aesop Rock.

I'm usually the one giving the recs as most of my friends have stagnated their tastes to the same ****, or some **** that reminds them of what they've been listening to since high school.

Thank god I don't have friends or people to talk about music with cause this right here would be a test of my desire to keep that friend. I wouldn't ditch them as a friend but I would be very tempted to drop all pretense of being respectful and openminded. I would happily ruin a Tool fan's day.

Edit: Do you have any kind of brutally honest rant about why you'd dislike Tool that you want to share with us?

Um... they're ****ing boring. TBH I haven't been able to listen to more than half a Tool song for years aside from the odd time I try to play a whole album and fail. I just don't care enough to even try anymore.

Edit: maybe I'll try one of their earlier albums. I can't take subjecting myself to Lateralus again but maybe Opiate.

Loving Tool and hating Tool are basically on the same levels of plebfulness these days.

My friends suck Maynard off too much but they tend to like Puscifer.

Being a Tool lover or Tool hater are two different brands of opinion that don't cover the whole spectrum. The former is based on an ignorance of virtually any other music, which makes Tool's music stand out as the most inventive and brilliant thing ever. The latter is based on a rejection of that basic bitch fanbase as opposed to the mediocre music.
