Hail Mary Mallon is the project where Aesop shares the mic with fellow def jux member Rob Sonic. The duo is joined by DJ Big Wiz. Their first album is Are you gonna eat that? It's more "relaxed" in a way than the core Aes albums, and it's highly entertaining. The participants sound like they re having fun and i think thats a big point for this record. Sometimes it gets annoying. Well once actually, in the track "Grubstake".I guess that something similar's wrong with the skits of Bestiary that Frownland mentioned above.

the Uncluded is a project featuring Aes and folk singer Kimya Dawson. They made a lovely album together, one that stands, musically, somewhere in the middle between their respective sounds. If you somehow got intrested in hearing something by Aesop Rock but dont care about hip hop music, this is your chance.

There are 3 eps made by A.R. together with NY rapper Homeboy Sandman. All of them have good and more-than-good moments, none of them is great. I find Homeboy Sandman's flow a bit monotonous sometimes but overall he seems ok. never heard a solo Lp by him.

Aesop Rock and Tobacco are Malibu Ken. They made an album this year. It seems to have pretty favorable reviews wherever i look, me i didnt like it. I find Tobacco's production weak, even annoying many times plus i dont think Aes' rap fits over it. One exception: "Acid King"

I used a track from each of those, HMM and the uncluded tempted me but keeping this <1 hour wasnt easy....

here's a taste of the uncluded

Then there's some scattered collaboration tracks in here:

One out of the 2 tracks Aes contributed vocals to from the lovely (and very much ignored) second full length by one of my favorite electronic/hiphop producers/djs/beatmakers, DJ Signify. I ll give a link to the track not included in here, to make you listen to the tape :P
Also, f you want to listen to a good mostly instrumental hip hop album this is highly recommended.

Spoiler for DJ Siginify ft Aesop Rock - Sink or Swim:

The second is from another pretty nice album, Prefuse 73's surrounded by Silence from 2005.

And one of my favorites is Aesop Rock f**king around with Murs, the track is called happy pillz and its another good option for non-hip hop heads to try...

Largest vocabulary in hip hop study.

Many of you probably already know this, but its a favorite of mine so i ll link to it here.
there's this guy who done a study about the vocabulary use of mc's. Specifically he counted how many unique words they used per 35,000 words used. He made a graph picturing his results. Then, he recounts, it was pointed out to him that he should do Aesop Rock. His result was too high to fit in the graph. This is not, but contains link to, the original study:

i have selected Aes' material that sums up to 3+ hours. maybe at some point i ll do a part 2 because i love this stuff. But, none knows if this will be the case, so, closing this, i d like to do some honorable mentions:Half of the tracks of float, labor days, impossible kid and bazooka tooth could be here and at least 3-4 from every other album so i m not getting into that.

1. i d like to single out basic cable tho because i love that track so much, its just that i ve used it to the previous tape i did so i left it out of this. if you dont know that track please listen to it

2. Fishtales is another great track (a non-album track) that i left out because i ve used it in the fish-tape i ve made (but havent written about here)

3. In the DJ Signify album the other Aesop Rock appearance is also great. Its called Sink or Swim.

4. In DJ Krush's Jaku there's the track Kill the switch.
Spoiler for kill the switch:

5. In a favorite 2000's hip hop album, el-p's Fantastic Damage, Aesop appears together with ill Bill in Delorean.

6. Catch 22 by Grimace Federation remixed by Aesop.https://grimacefederation.bandcamp.c...sop-rock-remix.
