I'm voting Nirvana.

I liked OMT for maybe a couple of weeks—maybe—as it reminded me of Robyn's Do you know what it takes which I liked a bit longer.

I liked many Nirvana songs save for Teen Spirit. I disliked it and I disliked pretty well every cover I heard—certainly every one I remember.

Then I heard a couple versions I like: one in Top of the Pops where he crooned it, one where they were deliberately off key, and a version I heard in major key.

Here're the first and third.





There's probably hope of finding a cover I like.

I think both needed more cowbell.

The only thing I liked about that skit was Walken posing as Bruce Dickinson and the anachronism.

I have SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT on a cassette so I picked that one :)

Baby One More Time

Easily because Britney Spears sounds much better than Kurt Cobain who couldn't sing. Smells Like Teen Spirit would sound OK if it were sung by someone else. Overall Smells Like Teen Spirit is a downer unlike Baby One More Time which is a decent upbeat tune.

Cobain (mostly) wrote the song he sung. Some Swede whose name I can't recall but who is known for writing lame pop hits wrote Britney's song. Thus she represents less talent—whatever the merit of the song she sung. Nor is it all that positive. Listen to the lyrics: her loneliness is killing her! She's losing her mind!

At least Robyn (with the pretty bare feet) is making her terms conditional in her song—the one Britney's (who didn't bare her feet in her early videos, but wore hebephic school dresses when she was—what? 16?) song is, IMO, a re-hash of—and FWIW the Robyn song is simply better than it, IMO.





Joss Stone or Jessica Andrews represents even more talent than either Britney or Robyn.

Britney Spears is a good singer now?

Oh what a tough choic... Smells Like Teen Spirit.
