songs that make you think of Joni Mitchell (mostly besides songs by Joni herself)
(my 20th post and 2nd thread—yeeaaaay!!)
from a thread of mine in another forum: songs that make you think of Joni Mitchell (mostly besides songs by Joni herself) other threads about Joni Mitchell in MusicBanter: Joni Mitchell Joni Mitchell (lyrics, jazz, album, Radiohead, show) Joni Mitchell Joni Mitchell (soundtrack, favorite song, title, track, song) (for source and bigger pic) https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...tival_2015.jpg (source) https://truenorth.labelstore.ca/6233...gital-mp3.html In this song, her voice has a bit of Rickie Lee Jones in it: and my favourite cover of any Joni Mitchel song: |

Here's a complete album that reminds me of Joni Mitchell, in her best moments, tripping on acid, with Tim Buckley's backing band (circa 1969) minus Tim, in the studio...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linda_Perhacs I have just listened to the album. I can hear some similarities, though she sounds a bit more psychedelic, but she has Joni's talent. Thanks. |

Spoiler for Joni Mitchell - The Windfall (Everything for Nothing):
I still wonder if this is a cover. |

I never thought of k.d. lang to be like Joni.
Yet, as I think of it, both grew up in Canada's west, both got a fair amount of fame from the US, both played with styles, and the lyrics of the song aren't too unlike that which Joni would write. Ditto with your last choice, insofar of decent lyrics—somewhat dense (for me that's often a good thing), country but not quite country—especially the human beat-boxing. |
