Oh, and relation to ST (As far as sound goes) in case you haven't heard NoMeansNo:

One of the few punk bands I like, and one of the even fewer that I love.

Unitron - You may be right, those two trash metal songs have an energy and aggression similar to punk that I can get into. I like the typical punk sound much better than metal, but this is certainly enjoyable. I really like the punk song, that chorus <3
Windsock - This was pretty great, and it encompasses more genres than most entire albums. It changes gears a bit abruptly, but that makes for a welcome surprise. The multiple vocal layers work well, and I like how it unravels
Plankton - this snot song is a blast too, and the second one reminds me a little of Public Enemy, really neat

Cool, here's a couple more crossover thrash favs of mine:

^Ever played the original Doom? This is where they got the iconic theme.

and regarding NoMeansNo, I'd highly recommend checking the rest of the Sex Mad album out as well as Wrong. Two fantastic albums and their best imo, though they've got plenty of other good albums.

Part of a concept album, but a great opening track.

Velcra's great, but Mic you can't properly defend them if you don't post their best song:

maria and micshazam,
i mean that you can like albums rated good by pitchfork and not have pitchfork taste=music that is "hyped" by pitchfork, mostly bestnewmusic, albums of the year etc..

that said i think pitchfork is a good site, which is kinda strange considering how big it has become in the last lets say decade+

back to the hiphop recommendations since maria liked the first two (i intentionally tried to keep it indie-friendly...), i m going to advance now to....... black rappers
everything is still pitchfork-approved tho (i guess but havent checked) so proceed without fear )

I didn't have time to listen to this yesterday because I was busy reviewing the male POV songs sung by women. I have my priorities straight : )
Unitron - I've never played Doom, the only games I've ever played a couple of times are the Sims and GTA. I feel the same about these crossover thrash metal songs as the others: similar kicks to punk, but with a less enjoyable sound. I like the second one best, there's more going on. I'll definitely check out more of NoMeans No. The beginning of the Velcra song is promising, and I wasn't disappointed with the rest of the song, those chorus riffs kick you in the face
Anteater - I'm not into the style of the sound but I like the melodies, the rhytm, and the combination of the two
MicShazam - the chorus of the first song also has a sound that's not to my taste but I enjoyed the verses with those sound layers, and this chick is good at shouting/sort of rapping over guitar riffs. My opinion on the second song is pretty much the same, I like the chorus better but the verses less
ziggywas - I'm into the lyrics of the first one as far as I can make them out, musically it is fine enough; it sounds good but could use more variation. The second one is funky man, I like it a lot. White kids wishin they black kids, and wanna talk like rappers / it's all backwards it's identity crisis" reminds me of the rich white kids in my school acting like gangsta rap was about them. I like the third almost as much. "this industry is like bacteria and my flow is a germ"? Don't care what he means, it sounds good
