The drones are usually called punk blues. Their classic song though usually serves as a better example.

Frownland - like it, the voice is nicely grounded by the bass and it has that somewhat bagpipe-like sound that you sometimes hear in psychedelic music. The drums are the finishing touch
Ziggywas - way more my cup of tea than I expected. Both of them have captivating rythms; I especially like the first one because I feel like there's more going on there musically. Funny enough it made me think of Radiohead's My Iron Lung because of the way the chorus relates to the rest of the song. Pitchfork taste means white hipster taste btw
Blank - This one is indeed more punk like. I like this one too (those clear background vocals with the lead singer's voice over it is great) but the Taman Shud one is ****ing goosebumps inducing

Glad you liked! Easily one of my fav albums of all time. I'd never heard of Heavens to Betsy (loving it!), so we're even! :p

I would say that I have the opposite of Pitchfork tastes, but they have reviewed some albums that I like favorably, so it doesn't hold up in court 100%

You might prefer the band the lead singer and bassist started. Tropical Fuck Storm.

Dope! I was originally planning on going in-depth with Scandinavia in general but with my format that'd take far longer than I'd like. I'll probably post it in my journal when it's done.

Maybe crossover thrash metal would be more to your liking if you're mainly into punk:
