As distant as they may seem I don’t think you can fully appreciate Beethoven without a mind that can also appreciate hip hop. Music is sound expressed as art. That’s it. Beethoven pushed boundaries in very similar ways. I've been thinking about something similar lately. With increased access to music I think that we'll be seeing an increase in singular musical approaches and genre blends. I could see a culture of blending the unlikely niches we live in helping us find key elements of music that we wouldn't have realized without a mass deconstruction that I'm envisioning. PC Music seems to be a progenitor of that.
