COIN COIN Chapter Four: Memphis by Matana Roberts

This is a record that immediately places itself alongside the likes of We Insist, Liberation Music Orchestra, and Spiritual Unity. To be so floored, so amazed, so touched by a record so quickly is very striking. It announces itself unmistakably as one of the greatest jazz records in history immediately. It’s very possible that this album is an artistic conclusion that can only be compared to works from the past; that jazz will never reach this level again. This is the kind of art that makes life worth living.

I like it because it says 420 on the cover.

I was thinking the numbers equal 1984.

And it's ****in groovy. Liking it better than the first Fly or Die album. I'd love to see her work with Irreversible Entanglements.

Yeah... it reminds me a little of Archie Shepp. Exo, you should check it out.

Journey to Parazzar by Joe McPhee, John Edwards, and Klaus Kugel

Solid Free Jazz

McPhee is an octogenarian. How do these people do it?

Just got turned on to Rishloo - Feathergun.

So far so good. Tool meets Mars Volta.
