Sarah Louise, Nighttime Birds and Morning Stars Pitchfork wrote about it, gave it an okay rating. I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I love what folk music is turning into. Reminds me of that Anna & Elizabeth avant-bluegrass record from last year. The songs feel both of earth and completely alien, spacey yet grounded. It's transcendental. It'll take me awhile to decide what I ultimately rate this, but I'm definitely enjoying it.

I couldn’t find a YouTube link to the full album, but do check it out. The track I posted is the closer and really works best after the impact of the rest of the record.

I mentioned that Sarah Louise album above in my journal a few days ago, as it's one of the 2019 albums I'm interested in getting. There's 5-10 of them so far.
But the only 2019 I actually have so far is the "Micro" EP from Ukrainian metalcore band Jinjer. I like it so far. It's pretty dense with riffs and changeups in a way that feels very kinetic and doesn't lose track of the grooves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC3djB7-nc0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJgkkYX-QYw As far as buying albums goes, I'm mainly still playing catch-up with 2018. |
