Sarah Louise, Nighttime Birds and Morning Stars Pitchfork wrote about it, gave it an okay rating. I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I love what folk music is turning into. Reminds me of that Anna & Elizabeth avant-bluegrass record from last year. The songs feel both of earth and completely alien, spacey yet grounded. It's transcendental. It'll take me awhile to decide what I ultimately rate this, but I'm definitely enjoying it. |

I mentioned that Sarah Louise album above in my journal a few days ago, as it's one of the 2019 albums I'm interested in getting. There's 5-10 of them so far.

It's pretty dense with riffs and changeups in a way that feels very kinetic and doesn't lose track of the grooves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC3djB7-nc0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJgkkYX-QYw As far as buying albums goes, I'm mainly still playing catch-up with 2018. |
Came out today.
Sounds like it's gonna be another favorite of mine for 2019 (along with that Richmond Avant-Improv Collective album). http://i65.tinypic.com/2dv8js0.jpg |
So what is the deal with Flips' King's Mouth? It seems to be linked with Coyne's new art exhibit which makes me think that it's not really gonna be anything of value.
