Best new jazz record I’ve this year. No gimmicky holy cow bull****. The communication between these four:

Jessica Ackerley - Guitar and Compositions
Sarah Manning - Saxophone
Mat Muntz - Bass
Stephen Boegehold - Drums

is outstanding. Mature sophististicated restrained: those can be boring qualities OR if the talent and understanding are there it’s the essence of great jazz- reminds me in spirit of Sun Ra’s best of his less discordant instrumental material. I mean more with the discipline and the relationship between the musicians than the sound itself. 5/5 highest recommendations. This is ****ing great.

It's fine. Doesn't break new ground most of the time, but there's a few things here n' there (like the weird drum/synth freakouts on 'Chocolate Chip Trip') that suggest innovation.

There's nothing they could have done that would have outdone Aenima or Lateralus for anyone who even casually enjoys their music, but 'Pneuma' and 'Invincible' have good writing, melodies, etc, so that'll be enough for most fans.
