New black midi is fire but dare I say overhyped. It got me expecting god level stuff but all I got was some great music.

I’m about 3/4 through it. A trusted friend texted me raves so I went right to it and then I found out it’s math rock. I’m not sure what I think yet.

I like the new American Pleasure Club (Teen Suicide) ****ing Bliss

If you’re not up for the whole thing dragged around the lawn is a standout track

The singer sounds like Jack Black.

It wasn't produced as well as it should have been. It isn't as intense as their live performances which is something I think a record like this would have benefited from.

Yeah I noticed it’s pretty eccentric. I’m not trying to pigeon hole it. Heck, I don’t even have an opinion yet. You’ve seen em live?

Same.
Only listened to it once though.
I was surprised how much it reminded me of Pere Ubu at times.
Really hope they keep on evolving and refining their music.
I can see them releasing an absolutely terrific classic as their second or third album.

Really? Pere Ubu? That’s really interesting.

I can see it in the kinda strained extended vocal technique and some of the rhythmic grooves toward the end.

Damn straight. Rocked my tits off. Dudes came out wearing western shirts and cowboys hats. Really took the "first tour in America" thing to a funny level. They were fantastic. They had an improvised portion where I honestly thought I was seeing the birth of the next top tier percussionist. Not that the rest of the band isn't very talented but that kid on the kit is an octopus.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. They're so damn young. They're going to blossom into something special I hope.
