I'll give it a listen;

but besides the broken thread and our two posts, where else has she been mentioned in this thread?

This thread is frikin' great.

Keep in mind I'm a unilingual English-speaker who is still a bit of a n00b and who listens to a fair amount of conventional music, so I'm likely missing a lot in the stuff here—if I come off as a bit of an ignoramus, it's probably because I am. :D

This post is about stuff (I mostly at least) like in the first two pages of this thread.

nice but cut short
3. Maiô da Mulher Maravilha
Imagine Queen had a song like Body Language but with the greatness of a Bohemian Rhapsody: kinda like this song.
4. Jaloo - Odoiá (In Your Eyes)
more good electronica (some sung in English)
5. Pedra Preta
Makes me think of Sade, only faster.

Still a good song.

The last three are good. El Humo rocks well. (Kinda makes me think of Iggy Pop's I want to be your dog, though better, IMO.)

^^ Thanks man!! Appreciate the interest in this thread, hope you enjoy and share your favorites pleez!

Not really psych but well, Major Lazer played in a 'block' for the first time in the biggest Brazilian carnaval festivity, the one from Salvador. They made a set with lots of 'brazilianities'.

Psy-Fi 03-23-2019 01:46 PM

Not psych but since not everything in this thread is psych, I thought I'd add them in here.

They've been around since 2000 and I saw them play live in the early 2000's in Austin, TX where they're based. Great live band.

This performance is from 2011, on the upstairs balcony, at Maggie Mae's on East 6th St, a place I've been to quench my thirst on countless occasions...

Various Artists - Hit Internacional (2019)

Hit Internacional

Quote:

From a fascinating yet relatively undiscovered era of experimental music in Peru’s capital city Lima, this never before released split single features two of the foremost musical minds of modern day tropical, electronic and ambient roots music. One song each was plucked from the archives of mutual friends Los Palteados (Tomas Tello) & La Sonora Roza (Efraín Rozas / La Mecánica Popular), offering a rare glimpse into the musicians’ respective productions and group projects at the onset of the 21st century. The pair of selected recordings each have their own hypnotic sensibility, yet both remain blissfully approachable experimentations in the beloved styles of cumbia & descarga.

The 7th album (and probably my favorite of theirs) by "Meridian Brothers" from Bogotá, Colombia...

https://i.ibb.co/M2bcStJ/DEM.jpg
Meridian Brothers - ¿Dónde estás María? (2017)

¿Dónde estás María?

Quote:

When they play live, Meridian Brothers are a five-piece. But in the studio, just one man creates their distinctive sound. Based in Bogotá, Colombia, Eblis Álvarez is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer with a highly personal take on the Latin music scene. He describes this easy-going, quirky set as “a kind of journey from Argentina through to Mexico”, and he uses the varied rhythms of Latin America as a starting point. There’s everything here from cumbia to reggaeton and Andean huaynos, in an ever-changing fusion in which the insistent percussion is matched against electronica, guitars and the unlikely addition of strings, with prominent use of cello.

Psy-Fi 04-30-2019 07:43 AM

A little bit of psychedelia on this one but not a psychedelic album overall.

A couple of songs from "Le Parody" out of Madrid, Spain...

Le Parody - Saetas en el Aire

Le Parody - Europa

Quote:

Le Parody is the musical project of Sole Parody, a Spanish singer and songwriter who combines dark pop, folklore and electronic songs. Technological syllables, melodramatic structures. Songs of love and indifference, dances and revolutions, made with instruments that fit in a suitcase (a ukulele, a sampler full of beats, glitches, pieces of movies, pedals).
