Juana Molina has been mentioned a couple of times already in this thread but I'll mention her again. My favorite album of hers and the one I reach for more than any other when I'm in the mood to listen to her music...

but besides the broken thread and our two posts, where else has she been mentioned in this thread? Quote:

Yeah I'm going to have to hear that one a few more times. Thanks, rostasi. I was going to post some Telmary, but some other time. People should instead listen to rostasi's 2nd pick (Chacarero). |

This thread is frikin' great.
Keep in mind I'm a unilingual English-speaker who is still a bit of a n00b and who listens to a fair amount of conventional music, so I'm likely missing a lot in the stuff here—if I come off as a bit of an ignoramus, it's probably because I am. :D This post is about stuff (I mostly at least) like in the first two pages of this thread. from page 1 post 2 Quote:
nice but cut short 3. Maiô da Mulher Maravilha Imagine Queen had a song like Body Language but with the greatness of a Bohemian Rhapsody: kinda like this song. 4. Jaloo - Odoiá (In Your Eyes) more good electronica (some sung in English) 5. Pedra Preta Makes me think of Sade, only faster. post 3 Quote:
Part of it sounds like a song I heard long ago but don't recall. 2. Mirando a Las Muchachas Ditto: that riff reminds me of another song I currently can't name. Still a good song. Let's see ..., lyrics wp article So it's kinda like Boards of Canada—at least in naming—Mexican Institute of Sound - Boards of Canada Spoiler for Boards of Canada - Wildlife Analysis:
3. 1977 This song is ahead of its time. When I first heard it (on a burned CD) I thought it would be something from the past 20 years, not over 40. 4. Paraguaya again Video unavailable This video is not available Here it is: Spoiler for Juana Molina - Paraguaya (official music video):
5. Los Mirlos - Sonido Amazonico - The Roots of Chicha Sounds like a sitar. :D post 8 Quote:
post 9 Quote:
another good one, rostasi. Parts of it sounds a bit like Jean Michel Jarre and that Marumari - Eno Test. 2. Bad$ista Ft. Lei Di DAi - Curtição 420 also good. post 10 Quote:
nice. from page 2 post 12 Quote:
good rocking. The other three are also good. post 13 Quote:

3rd track Aparición 5th track Radio Sololá 6th track La Rueda 9th track Caracol post 17 Video unavailable This video has been removed by the user I'll probably get to it later. post 19 Quote:
The riff sounds familiar. (much better than Verve's video—no pushing or shoving) The last three are good. El Humo rocks well. (Kinda makes me think of Iggy Pop's I want to be your dog, though better, IMO.) |
^^ Thanks man!! Appreciate the interest in this thread, hope you enjoy and share your favorites pleez!
Not really psych but well, Major Lazer played in a 'block' for the first time in the biggest Brazilian carnaval festivity, the one from Salvador. They made a set with lots of 'brazilianities'. |

Not psych but since not everything in this thread is psych, I thought I'd add them in here.
They've been around since 2000 and I saw them play live in the early 2000's in Austin, TX where they're based. Great live band. This performance is from 2011, on the upstairs balcony, at Maggie Mae's on East 6th St, a place I've been to quench my thirst on countless occasions... Del Castillo - Lumbres de Babylon |
An album that isn't psych but certainly is some top-notch instrumental surf-rock.
From Buenos Aires, Argentina, "The Vulcanos" with their debut album... |
I already mentioned this band in this thread but I'm listening to this album at the moment and it's my favorite of theirs, and worth mentioning, so...
