The opposite. It's a theoretical future where we've become so attached to advanced technology and the internet to the point where we find real life insufficient and we ignore and/or forget about it.
I'm absolutely not suggesting such a thing will happen to even a similar degree, but I can see large swaths of the population attempting to iron out their disdain for the warring and bloodshed in real life by finding greater solace in what the rapidly evolving internet has to offer. |

Ah, technophilia.

I'm still waiting for Immortal Technique to drop "The Middle Passage," and for the collaboration between R.A. The Rugged Man and Chino XL. |

Pop punk and nu metal are going to make comebacks. This will be pushed forward by weird little teenagers who were raised in a world with zero difference between the "real world" and the "digital world." It will be strange and experimental and only available on Bandcamp. It will be incredible.
There will be a brief, ironic flirtation with Dixieland-style jazz and hipsters will constantly joke about it being the roaring 20's. This will be a counternarrative to the "real" jazz scene, which will continue to evolve at a rapid pace in London and Chicago. Musicians will increasingly become politically polarized and will espouse openly fascist/antifascist views. This will be the sound of the societal revolution to come. Queer artists will take over the pop mainstream in a major way. I second the notion that an anti-tech movement will come about and we'll see new artists who only record on tape on all-acoustic instruments.
