He's in The Labyrinth and a few other movies too. He's also Nikolai Tesla in The Prestige, which is an infinitely better movie than any of the other ones he's been in.

I mean, in whose definition does this constitute anything aside from pointless, wasteful trollope?

Space Oddity also sucks aside from 2 (maybe 3) songs and as for Bowie's first album, well...I don't think even the staunchest Bowiephiles would try to justify its existence. Early David Bowie seems to be all about the singles. I am increasingly convinced of that. I am starting to understand for the first time why Ethan has referred to him as David Blowme.
Hunky Dory has 3 of the greatest choruses of all time...

Is it just me or does the intro to Song for Bob Dylan sound EXACTLY like Ronnie Van Zandt?

Wonder when Pronounced... was released...

EDIT: ****, Oh You Pretty Things just came on random...I'm gonna have to concur with you, but Bewlay Brothers is rather good too...

Well yah, but I think those three are among the best pop has to offer. I've heard that Rick Wakemen played piano on parts of Hunky Dory, most notably on Life On Mars. Mmm...

loz, dude, just what IS your issue? Like, seriously?

Changes and Life On Mars are fantastic songs. But on the basis of what I know of his early work (with the one exception of The Man Who Sold The World [album]), Bowie is all about the singles/big hitters. The album tracks on Hunky Dory are absolute crud. It's reminiscent of the same crappy music hall tripe that he began his career with.

Aside from that, your claim that I "dislike things just because they're good" is not only arrogant, but completely ignorant of who I am and my tastes in music. Hell, you know WHY I am bothering to listen to Bowie's discography? Because I grown up listening to and loving David Bowie, on the basis of his greatest hits CDs. Liking David Bowie as much as I did/do, I am curious to have a fuller picture of his work. Up to now I am not impressed.
