I'm not really a fan of glam rock, but then again I don't tend to shy away from it either. I enjoy listening to bands such as Roxy Music and Doctors of Madness. So... just pick an album you feel that's right.
1. Outside

that's experimental - it's a concept album, it still does sound a bit like NIN, though, though you may like it as it's "industrial"

I liked Kurt Cobains unplugged version of The Man Who Sold The World, as well as Bowies original. China Girl was always one of my favorite Bowie singles, it has a fun bassline.

Jack, I would recommend Low or Station to Station as a starting point. Neither are glam rock

Yeah I agree with Low being a favourite. Also Aladdin Sane, Scary Monsters, The Man Who Sold the World, Heroes.

DEFINITELY Low, "Heroes" and Lodger Jack Pat, in my opinion the Berlin Trilogy is his best work by a long shot and also his most experimental. Scary Monsters is great too. Stay away from his 90s output for the time being, it's comparatively weak.

Lodger's great, in my opinion. It gets nowhere near the accolades that Low and "Heroes" receive, and it's the most accessible of the Berlin Trilogy, but it's still a hugely absorbing listen. There's more of world music influence on it compared to the other two, and I think its slightly softer sound represents a perfect end to his German adventures. He clearly came out of the experience reinvigorated, and Lodger is an album brimming with contentment, despite the concept of a lonely drifter.

Lodger and Scary Monsters are, of the ones I've heard, two of my least favorite Bowie albums
