Wow, ten years ago, Kurt killed himself and his body wasn't found until 4-8-94. Where were you in '94 and what was your reaction?I was a senior in Highschool and I was shocked. I turned on WFNX and listened to Nirvana A-Z. I was a little sad and angry. They were a good band, but not the greatest band on the planet that so many make them out to be. Don't get me wrong I love Nirvana, but I'm sick of all these posers;who make Nirvana, the end all, be all band of the '90s.

well... i was 6 years old and i didn't have a clue-i would think. soo yea i don't remember where i was. probably sleeping, eating, or playing.
i did start getting into Nirvana when i was like 10 maybe becuz my cousin would always listen to them and he was a lot older than me.
i agree that they were a good band, but not the greatest band on the planet.

i love em. horrible to see that happen, but they did get the whole grundge thing going. maybe a good thing, since it seems it did fade out kinda quick.

I was a Sophomore in high school at the time. Man I remember how my band used to play a lot of Nirvana songs. Hell the name of the band was Euphoria. It really crushed my friend when he heard the news.

Anyway, I dunno if this will be interesting to anyone else but I found this article today.

I was only 7 but I was already listening to Nirvana... man I was sad when I heard Kurt died, I didn't really htink about it much until today though... that really affected my whole perspective on music, hell, life in general.. RIP Kurt

Nirvana didnt "get grunge going" they merely brough it to a wider audience, grunge was a purely Seattle thing until Nirvana became heard of, but they didn't create it, not by a long shot. Nine Inch Nails were the first grunge band to release an album, even though THAT album wasnt grunge. Grunge didnt magically appear when Nirvana came on the scene.

It sad, and I think its a cop-out.. from a man who had so much to offer the musical world to just end things like that, but I mean when you look at the guys life, its not very suprising...

His parents abandoned him at a young age, he grew up alone and confused. He lived in Seattle with the American city with the most depressing rainy days. His band was brought into the spotlight so suddenly that he was not equipped to handle the instant fame. He thought he had to live the rock-star life, to go along with the position, which meant drugs and lots of them.

I love Nirvana though, they influence they had on new music is astounding. I was *counts* 5 years old when it happened so I dont really remember but just like someone mentioned earlier, my cousin and uncle were really into Nirvana, so I learned alot about them at a young age.
