Sounds gimmicky based on this description.

Elph doesn't like "hipster" cause it applies so aggressively to him and there's nothing he can do to shake the term.

The reason I called Erase Errata was partly due to the angular guitars, but it was that combined with the horns and the genuinely awful music video that made it appear, at least to me, that much of their presentation was built on a forced sense of quirkiness. |

I could have ****ing sworn I replied to this. Sorry Ros. It's exams week and I apologize if I skip over some stuff.
I love Red Snapper. Prince Blimey is a fantastic album from them but I've always prefered Our Aim Is To Satisfy. Just curious, did the debut get on the original 1001 Albums You Need to Listen To list? I only ask because Our Aim did and seeing as PB is of similar quality I would only assume that it did as well. The Juke tune is some great instrumental hip hop (downtempo? I don't know the difference anymore). Traditional Asian music elements add very well to beat-driven music, imo. It reminds me a bit of that one faux-DOOM track called Books of War that was making rounds on YouTube awhile ago. It sampled Ros Serey Sothea, to great effect. |

I called its quirkiness "forced" and "awkward". Last time I checked, those two adjectives were are fairly negative, especially when applied to music. If I had just called it quirky and acted like solely that was a bad thing you would have a point, but that's not what I did.

Originally I disagreed primarily with your connection between my usage of "quirky", a neutral descriptor, and the term "hipster", which is mainly used as a pejorative. However, I also don't find my usage as redundant because "forced quirkiness" isn't redundant when applying to punk because its a negative attribute. It's not like I'm acting surprised at quirkiness in punk rock, it just so happens that quirkiness sounds really forced and therefore is hard to swallow.
