I prob err on the side of caution and don't delete as many files as I could. My feeling is that free downloading could one day stop as suddenly as it started, so it's best to hang on to what you've got...

I'm glad you mentioned Ozric Tentacles because I'm really ambivalent about them. It all started with, "Wow this is brilliant, but for now I've had enough." Then it progressed to, "Hey, they are brilliant. I should listen to that again - but later", and now they are just a file I never open.

I've gotten rid of lots of CDs over the years. This year, I did a major clean-out of my metal collection.

As far as the files on my computers, they're pretty much a reflection of my CD collection, so they get deleted if the CD goes out the window. If I don't feel strongly about it, I don't feel a need to own it. I'll just use Spotify if I need to listen to one Amon Amarth song again or something.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

i dont typically remove albums or artists from my hard drive, but much of my listening is done using my old school 160gb ipod that is almost always full. so whenever I add new things to it I have to take off things I dont listen to often or dont feel ill miss. every six months or so ill do a mass purge to give myself some breathing room. its a very anxiety-inducing practice

I delete nothing. I have a few ext HD's with everything I've ever DL'ed on them, and when the latest one fills up I'll get another one.

Not really, no. Although, I will put a significant amount of time in between albums I've listened to and revisit them when the time is right for me to.

I've been collecting CDs and vinyl for about 4 years now and have never sold/gotten rid of any of them. Maybe some day I will, though

I have ~800 CDs, so I'm very interested in keeping it from spiralling out of control. I actually really enjoy trying to fine-tune my collection, so that it's only a bunch of music that I can honestly say that I think is really good. It's a constant work in progress. Some things enter, some leave.

Although I do have some songs that I don't groove to much,I couldn't bring myself to toss em.
