Pounding the Pavement, the album they released early this year, was total ass. It may mark Anvil finally going down hill for me, which I find unfortunate.
Yeah, agreed. It's such a shame, as they never really had bad album prior to it.

As for me, first thing I can think of is Godsmack's new album When Legends Rise. They used to be one of the heaviest bands that alternative metal had to offer, but just turned absolutely terrible radio fodder complete with those obnoxious "ohohohohohs" that makes them sound like Imagine Dragons with guitars.

But like they were always terrible radio fodder. And to call them heavy alt metal is to forget that White Zombie existed.

Well yeah they were always played on the radio, but I dunno, I always liked their music. Their new album doesn't even sound like them.

I absolutely love White Zombie, one of my favorite bands, though I would never have thought to call them alt personally. I love how every album they released sounds so different from one another. One of the best album openers of all time:

If only Rob was willing to get White Zombie back together, I've read interviews with the other members where all the rest of them are wanting to do more Zombie stuff.

I'm sure the other members want the check while Rob is over the whole music thing. Wouldn't be all that hyped tbh. Rob lost the plot as soon as he went solo and at this point I imagine the band reforming would just be a new Rob solo band that just so happened to be White Zombie and would suck as much but with maybe some heavier riffs and a bunch of songs trying to sound like "More Human than Human".

The new Kylie album from earlier this year is a major disappointment to me. Not her first sub-par album, but the first that's not even worth listening to at all. Watered down country pop. No fun at all. Blah.

The new Ihsahn album is also disappointing. The somewhat hyped electronic elements turned out to be slight and have very little impact on the sound of the album. It's actually just Ihsahn by the numbers and I was already feeling like he needs to shake things up when I heard the previous album. I enjoy the album, but come on man. You're better than this.

Trying to recapture your more popular sound from years ago is too sad. I'd much rather an artist just stopped making music if that's all they've got left to give.

Kero Kero Bonito was a disappointment. Based on all the hype, I thought they'd be good, not making banal songs about how hard it is to wake up (oh how Japanese!).

Yes, some ideas are just too banal to be worth putting into a song. You're complaint made me think of Manic Monday by The Bangles:

Well, "made" rhymes with "paid", and that's about the only thing you could say in defense of that lyric, imo.

Back in the bad old pre-internet days, you sometimes only heard an album by buying it, and that was a risk I took with:

When I got the album home, I wished they'd put an advisory sticker on it: " Warning: Nothing like Ry Cooder's cover versions!"

OK but my reply might not be liked amoung alot of you......

I love analogue and I dont like how alot of these bands just let thier producers mix thier music digitally as it sounds like crap..... In the late 70s this stuff began and its sickening!!

WHY DIDNT MORE STAND UP AND SAY FUCK THAT GARBAGE,WE WANT IT 100% ANALOGUE? -- Didnt they care how thier music sounded anymore?

Bands used TAPE until the mid/late 80s but thier stuff WAS NOT ANALOGUE ON THE FINAL MASTER!!

1) Jefferson starships 1981 album sounds like thinner digital trash... Dan Hartmans 1984 record "I can dream about you" also sounds like digital crap......

Journeys LAST GOOD analog record is infinity (1978) after that they are thin and disgusting.....

WHY WHEN ANALOGUE HAD BEEN USED FOR MANY YEARS DID THESE BANDS BLINDLY LISTEN TO TIHESE ASSISINE PRODUCERS SAYING "DIGITAL SOUNDS BETTER" - NO,IT SOUNDS LIKE FUCKING GARBAGE!! (Especially on an analog medium (record,cassette,8 track)
