Answer to #1: I gotta say I honestly fail to see any significant similarity between the music of Elton John and Judie Tzuke. And Toto, for that matter.

Answer to #2: I've listened to several Toto albums at this point, so I don't think it's fair to expect much more from me. It would count as dismissive if I'd only skimmed, but that's far from what I've actually done. If I beat myself over the head with Toto's music again and again but still don't connect with it, then I'm not likely to suddenly love them. Never say never, of course. I took a long time to warm to some artists/bands.

Elton John was the one that signed Tzuke and mentored her. Her 80's stuff sounds a lot like what he was doing in the late 70's through the mid 80's. Especially on the ballads and more synth-driven material. Furthermore, he used the Toto guys on a few albums during that period as session players / occasional co-writers, and future Toto drummer Simon Phillips played on her debut album. So...yes, there are connections.

I don't know all of Elton John's music, but what I do know... Not that similar. Any specific Elton John album that would convince me otherwise?

21 At 33, Jump Up!, Breaking Hearts and Ice On Fire are similar to what she was doing between '80 to '85.

Hmm... I don't know. Some parts did something subtly interesting with how it combined various musical elements and in terms of sound quality, it's top marks. I especially enjoyed how dynamic the volume levels are. That's a bit more rare these days than I'd like. It's just that on an overall level, I did find my wandering a little too much as I re-played the first part of the album a couple times. Not really into it, but I appreciate the undeniable creativity of this album.

Sorry about that.

I still want to give a short take on the music, but it's nothing personal. At all. I'm reacting to these tracks as I hear them, straight from the heart.

I do really enjoy Warsaw Village Band and a number of other folk artists, but I don't know... This track didn't exactly do much for me. That woman has a great voice, and it's a pretty melody, but I also found the track a bit long-ish, and that mid section amused me more in the wrong way than it probably should have. I kinda feel like this group seems like a lot of imagery and aesthetic, but very little substance. HOWEVER. I'm also just a dumbass with a very specific musical perspective and I haven't heard anything else they've made for that matter.
