Modes
I still don't quite understand modes. I can create modes all day long, but I don't get how, say, C D Eb F G A Bb isn't a C scale in Bb Major, not a C Dorian mode.
Help? :shycouch: |
Yes, C Dorian is a mode of Bb Major. Is there a contradiction there?

12tone has one on modes too but it goes a little more basic with it |
Thank you. I watched the Adam Neely lesson and found it helpful, especially when he talked about how one practically applies musical knowledge. The second video was a little chaotic and fast-paced for me.
I think what I've gleaned so far from looking at modes is that modes allow for a certain mood within a scale. |

I'm glad you gained something from the Adam Neely vid. I'd say your summary of modes is pretty accurate. |
