Just a bit of fun. It doesn't matter at all. I'm just hoping for some funny hot takes.

Unironically enjoying this at the moment. Not Tzuke's strongest album, but it's got a lot of subtle touches to it that makes it work really well when played at night at a solid volume in my living room.

https://open.spotify.com/album/3Q2k67cKDA1VnQlOOHpqQF (warning: totally adult contemporary material ahead)

I don't really understand the impulse to judge others instead of just focusing on doing your own thing. Anyway, I just think the idea of having the right or wrong tastes is interesting. There's a long history of trying to draw lines between high and low culture, shifts of what's "in" or "out" or "cool" among hipsters, etc.

Not that those ideas were why this thread was made. I was just bored and hoped people would start arguing about who's the most lame MB member, musically speaking. So far, so disappointing.

You can easily do both. Everyone forms opinions on others' tastes whether they realize it or not, but it's not like disagreeing with someone or pointing out that they like/dislike something for silly reasons ("this album sucks because there's no xylophone", as an extreme example) is the same as making a value judgement.

Hipsters are hippies are beatnicks are swing kids are youngins. The only differences are generational.

Judging other people's tastes is just another way we decide if we like someone or not.

I feel like this is a dig at me for disagreements we've had in the past, but I basically agree.

Yep, generational differences.

As a callback to a specific generation or else they're just stoners.

Isn't the hipster mentality also supposed to be that you're into something because it makes you seem cool and on the cutting edge of popular music? (As opposed to being into something because it just tickles your brain and makes you feel joy.)

"phish listening"

I don't know why I found that funny.
