I've probably discovered more good **** at MB than I have any where else on the internet. But that's just me. Including member albums.

I know you're joking, but it's just so you to frame it like that. Hence why I said that thing about a cat and a rusty engine on the previous page.

I'm actually not joking. It's a tepid vocal jazz slog that comes off as sterile because the music focuses on imitation over genuine emotion or personal expression.

Is that a better way to frame it?

You can put it that way if you want, but that's your read. I don't see it that way.

That's fine. I just think if you'd heard and appreciated more jazz, you'd see how trite it is.

Don't be too sure. After all, I got the rec from someone who's been into jazz for twice as long as you and has written several books about jazz. He put it in his "100 best albums of the year" (all genres) list on his website.

But then again, maybe you'd be right. Ask me in 10-30 years and we can settle an eventual bet.

Is it that goof from All That Jazz who gave it a positive review?

Him liking it scores about as many points for the album as me disliking it.

No, it's from this guy's website:

The 100 Best Albums of 2014

I've found some pretty diverse and cool things by going through his end-of-the-year lists.
