Hook your cassette recorders input up to an output on the source, press record on the cassette recorder, then press play on the source. You have to time it right with the song lengths so you don't clip a tune or have too much blank space. I used to do this with 8-Tracks too. I had an 8-Track player/recorder.

I somehow assumed there wouldn't be direct compatibility with the connectors on my PC.

But now CD's are about as outdated as you can possibly get

I was talking about the 90s dude.

Yeah but not if you were gonna self record

You'd still send a demo tape and someone else made the CDs

So tapes are better than CDs because tapes help you rely on corporations to succeed?

That's a pretty arbitrary point to make to call CDs irrelevant.

I still have tons of CDs

MicShazam 08-23-2018 12:08 PM

Like I've said before, I don't buy CDs because it makes much sense. I just like having them and playing them. It's my thing.

I remember having to use iTunes or Windows media player to get music onto CDs. I didn't know you could release it through the internet at that time. I think I had AOL around then. I don't remember.

because you could actually self release entirely by tape for cheap

So the non-elite are doomed to poorer quality.

by the time you could do that with CD you could release by internet anyway so why bother
Outside of a few examples, you couldn't get popular on the internet until about 2008. So gitchu a time machine, go to 1995, and tell the guy considering getting an affordable recording setup to wait 13 years and he'll just be able to put it out digitally for free.

1/8" jack to RCA is about $5

I made my own CD's, and still do. It's cheaper to have them made in bulk by a company that offers the service though.

it was super expensive to record CDs in your home studio in 1995 according to everything I could find about this

which is why bands still used tape

Cheaper. More feasible.
