I only looked it up because I already knew it was a very widespread thing and had to prove it

It doesn't even rhyme so well with Dimmu Borgir, so I assumed it wasn't clever enough to be a thing. The more you know

Still no clue where I heard it first.

Hard to listen to an entire album imo
Pure zany fun.

I've been discovering that Black Metal has a lot more to offer than I at first anticipated (kinda like punk I guess, though I've yet to properly explore that). In particular, I'm now all about that ABM: some of that stuff is lush. But basic black metal can be okay, but yeah as I think Frown said, a lot of it sounds very much the same, and it doesn't really encourage you to explore the genre too deeply. I reckon there's a lot of good stuff in there if you dig though.
Alot of it sounds the same yes...but also a lot of it sounds different especially when you factor in the sub genres of Black metal Melodic/Symphonic , Depressive Suicidal, Atmospheric and a few others I'm forgetting.

To say it all sounds the same is just ignorant imo I listen almost exclusively to Black Metal so I have heard quiet a few different bands who don't sound anything like each other.

Since you post so much about black metal, I was curious what you think of Dimmu Borgir? I like the song The Sacrilegious Scorn, but I see how most black metal die hards scoff at any mention of the band.

I also like Agalloch, but they're another band that sort of deviate from the core of BM.

At one point in time I was into them (Dimmu I mean)

Now? Not so much and yeah I'm one of those that scoff at any mention of them similar to Cradle of Filth and Carach Angren.

I never really got into Agalloch for some reason probably for the reason you mentioned actually.

I liked some of that Carach Angren album named "Where The Corpses Sink Forever", but other than that, they've been pretty disappointing.

such a shame that elitist metalhead losers write off CoF when they've made some of the absolute sickest and shreddingest music of all time

The ****? This sounds more like melodic brutal death metal than anything black metal. I remember giving your last CoF rec a shot and thinking, "Nah, bruh, you on your own," but now I'm curious even if I'm not sure how much I actually like this.
