That impression is not wrong, but there's so much more to prog than that. Similarly, there is, I'm sure, much more to hip-hop than what I wrote, but this is the image it projects. Not my fault it we pick up what they're putting out.

Obviously there are great artists - I'm not saying there aren't. But ask anyone who isn't a fan what Black Metal is about, they'll say "devil worship". Ask the same question about emo, you'll be told whining teens. Ask about hip-hop and the answer will likely be guns, bitches and hoods. It's just how it is. You can sigh all you want, and call me a white old man (which I am) but that doesn't change the fact that this is the image hip-hop presents to the world at large.

Hey, Yorke. Are you maybe showing a little bias yourself? You're being pretty judgmental and you don't even know us.

This is such a typical parental outlook on hip hop.

That is not the image hip-hop projects, that is the image that you want it to project

I am heavily biased against snooty white people more than any other group, yes

Yes, parents just don't understand. Sound likes a DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince song, great stalwarts of hip hop that they were

Actually maybe our attitudes aren't unlike the PMRC hearing in the eighties. Back then they were going after the likes of Twisted Sister, Judas Priest, and even Madonna. So you whippersnappers aren't telling us anything we haven't experienced. Indeed the generation that was trying to ban eighties rock n roll had to endure their parents attempts to ban rock n roll in its infancy. In other words, it never ends.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. Nobody cares, carry on
