What sucks about hip hop is that there’s so much attention given to the lyrics and the lyrics are generally underwhelming.

There's no shame in implicit biases if you acknowledge them, but there is shame when you deny that they exist.

Of course implicit racism (and other biases) exists. We all have a little racist in us. It's something we have to fight everyday.

I did try the test but I screwed it up. I just don't appreciate being called a card carrying member of the Ku Klux Klan just because I don't get wet over today's hip hop. I didn't say I hated the genre, it just isn't my cup of tea overall.

And, Batlord, yeah, I hear you. My parents had their biases and I was a little shocked when my Dad, a one time Democrat, was supporting Trump on Facebook. My step-father is even worse; he's one of those there are blacks and there are n- sort of people. Anyhow, a lot of the musical tastes are generational and maybe so are the attitudes, but it doesn't mean just because we're older we automatically hate certain groups.

I'll try the test again later, Yorke. I'm tied up with something else right now In the meantime, I'm just wondering what your kids will think of some of you (not meaning you, Yorke) when the time comes.

In other words, don't ever get old.

Agree with Janz anyway.

Yeah, if there's one thing that has always prevented me from really listening to hip-hop it's been the use of expletives and violence, surely the highest quota in any genre? Often very misogynistic, usually boastful, and sometimes, really, not very good. Come at me bro. But leave yo gun back in yo crib, you feel me?

99.999% of people that make generalizations like this are racist in some way, shape, or form.

That's all I have to say on that subject, I'll be dropping it for good now

I don't mind the foul language. If it works it works.

I would agree with that observation. Doom is especially skit heavy. I would be alot more satisfied if they were replaced with you know... actual songs.

Okay, but don't say you're not racist because you're a big hip hop fan. It doesn't work both ways.

Yeah, I admit Troll could have worded his OP a little better. It was pretty white of him. Maybe this will teach him not to go overboard with these type of threads.

PS- I bet there are some black people who don't like hip hop either. Just sayin'
